Chair for El Eco by Clásicos Mexicanos

One of Mexican modernism’s leading lights, the architect and sculptor Mathias Goeritz was a key lynchpin of an avant garde group also including Luis Barragán and (for a time) the American fiber artist Sheila Hicks. This chair, originally designed by Goeritz for his Museo Experimental El Eco (which opened in 1953) has recently be re-editioned by Clásicos Mexicanos, which dedicates itself to the “rescue” of iconic works of Mexican design history.
