Woolly Poof

The overlap of radical design and slapstick comedy: it’s not a very densely populated spot. All the more reason to welcome London’s Jonathan Trayte to the contemporary scene. In the past few years, he has established himself as an exciting and distinctive voice, capable of tremendous formal sophistication despite the nature of his source material, which ranges from the supermarket produce aisle to cheap packaging to tiki and lounge culture. This wheeled ottoman evokes a dreadlocked personage, or perhaps a nest of soft toy serpents.
