Ruby Neri’s father Manuel was the leading sculptor of the Bay Area Figuration movement, widely known for his expressionist polychrome works. This familial connection can be felt in her painterly ceramic sculptures, which have remarkable freshness - an instantly communicative quality. They also bespeak a contemporary Feminist point of view, in which the female body is presented in a proudly candid way.
