Bitossi Ceramics

Rocchetto

The Rocchetto series (the title means “spool” or “bobbin”) was made for the Raymor Company by the ceramic manufactory Bitossi. The piece has great interest within the history of Italian ceramic art, as Bitossi was at this time in active collaboration with the great designer Ettore Sottsass. While this piece cannot be attributed securely to him, it does suggest some influence or exchange of ideas, as it shares the cylindrical form and stacked multicolor stripes typical of Sottsass's totemic works.
