A tiny light for a giant task

The uncontainable, irrepressible Misha Kahn is the ultimate exponent of the new design generation. He works across media, scale, and frameworks of reference with a reckless abandon, an astonishing pace of invention that infuses his work with a sense of urgency. This lamp in acid tones is from his latest body of work - finished mere days before Object & Thing. It was made by adhering ceramics to a fiberglass core. Colored grout serves both to unify the fragmentary surface and as a drawing medium, charting the object’s intuitively arranged contours.
