Simple but effective, this is one of a series of small bronze sculptures by the Argentinian-born, London-based artist on the theme of the “souvenir.” By simply arranging shell forms together, Amalia Pica emblematizes the way that tourist economies lay claim to and manipulate natural resources and sites. This is consistent with the artist’s overall approach, which provides revelatory perspectival shifts on everyday experience.
