◄ Overview
Martino Gamper
Baem-bu Vase - Bronze
The Italian-born, British-based designer Martino Gamper is possessed of unstoppable creative force, most famously realized in his project 100 Chairs in 100 Days. He has been widely influential for his incorporation of existing elements into design, in a way that manages to seem rudimentary and sophisticated all at once. One important implication of his work is that anyone can make brilliantly inventive objects, at relatively low cost. Gamper’s faceted “Baem-Bu vases” self-evidently refer to bamboo, one of nature’s most renewable building resources, but also involve a transmutation of that material into cast bronze.
