◄ Overview
Al Qöyawayma
Jar with corn motifs
Renowned Hopi potter Al Qöyawayma forms his coiled pots from locally sourced clays, bringing them to a high polish. The broadly proportioned jar seen here features a motif of three ears of corn, the staple crop of the Hopi and most other North American native peoples. While not making pottery, Qöyawayma works as a mechanical engineer, developing inertial guidance systems.
